Pongal is celebrated as a thanksgiving festival for various Hindu deities. The festival of Pongal is held particularly by the farming community as it marks the end of harvesting season. Pongal celebration lasts for four consecutive days. Enjoying this Tamil traditional festival, Sri Aurobindo Mira College of Education, celebrated this auspicious day on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, with the theme, “An ecstasy of green fields…Adore the farm life…” in such a way to represent the significance of farming for our lives. The programme commenced with prayer song in a divine manner. All the students and teaching facilitators dressed themselves in Green sarees and dhotis denoting the theme of the day. Various celebrations and events were designed in a manner to evoke and expose the students’ inner most talents. Students showcased their talents with a sportive spirit and did a magnificent job to add on colors to the celebration. Students have expressed their gratitude towards farmers with their verses and colorful Rangoli. They loudly orated the essence of farming. Dance crew outshined the day with their thunder-like performance. Emulating the purpose of the day, students made Pongal and shared with other Institutional faculties with lots of love and happiness.
